Burlington County Carpenter Cup 2003
Revised Release

MAPLE SHADE--The 2003 Burlington County Carpenter Cup squad has been selected.  Cinnaminson leads the team with five selections, followed by Florence with four, Shawnee with three and Rancocas Valley, Holy Cross and Riverside with two.

Pitchers: Sean Doolittle (Shawnee), Tom Giambrone (Florence), Justin Lang (Maple Shade), Colin Kassekert (Holy Cross), Will O'Connor (Cinnaminson), Jason Karmazin (Florence), Jason Ronca (RVRHS).

Outfield: Jared Burg (Florence), Brandon Dowdell (Burlington Twp.), David Sorrentino (Riverside), Ryan Pope (RVRHS), Dan Bertino (Cinnaminson), Chris Runkle (Shawnee).

First Base: Blake Bullis (Delran), C.J. Potts (Riverside).

Infielders: Dave Mebs (Cinnaminson), Rick Costa (Holy Cross), Rob Caruso (Northern Burlington), Michael Cooper (Burlington City), Matt Zonies (Cherokee), John Persicketti (McCorristin).  John Carson (Cinnaminson) has been added to the roster as an alternate if any player is unable to play after the tournament begins.

Catchers: Scott Knazek (Pemberton), Tony Cardullo (Cinnaminson), Mike Ferrara (Shawnee), Bryan Maus (Florence).  Alon Desper (Willingboro) has been added to the roster as an alternate if any player is unable to play after the tournament begins.

The head coach will be Mario Petrizzi from Cinnaminson and he will be assisted by Brian Anderson (Shawnee), Dan Dockery (Holy Cross), Rick Doppler (Northern Burlington), Jerry Ferraro (Cinnaminson), Jim Forrest (Lenape), Tony Lotierzo (RVRHS), Brian Solomon (Riverside), Jim Varsaci (Maple Shade) and Michael Webb (Maple Shade).

The team will practice on June 9, 2003 at 3:30PM, at Maple Shade High School.

Mebs, Zonies, Knazek, Giambrone, Dowdell, Cardullo, Lang and Maus were all members of the 2002 squad that advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament.

The Carpenter Cup, played at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies and is a 16-team single elimination tournament comprising teams from New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Burlington County is scheduled to open the tournament on Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at 2:00PM against Tri-Cape.
