Game 4 - June 23, 2006 - Burlington 6  Tri-Cape 2 - Finals
Third time is the charm.  After falling in the Carpenter Cup championship game in 1993 and 1986, Burlington finally won its first title in the 21-year history of the tournament, defeating Tri-Cape 6-2 on Friday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies.  Tri-Cape (3-1) fell to 0-6 in championship games in the tournament.

Game 3 - June 22, 2006 - Burlington 16  Chester County 0 - Semi-Finals
Good pitching beats good hitting.  Two days after posting the largest run scoring effort in Carpenter Cup history with 27 runs, Chester County ran into Burlington County and were shutout 16-0 in the semi-finals hosted by the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday.  The game marked only the 21st shutout in the history of the tournament in 284 games with four of the 21 shutouts hurled by the Burlington County franchise.

Game 2 - June 20, 2006 - Burlington 7  SOL/National Bicentennial 6 - Quarter-Finals
You can 'bank' on it.  Senior shortstop Dan Hayduk (Pemberton H.S.) hit a two-out, two-run double as Burlington County rallied from a 6-2 deficit with five runs in the bottom of the ninth, defeating SOL National/Bicentennial 7-6 in the quarter-finals of the 21st annual Carpenter Cup, sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies, played at Meiklejohn Stadium at the University of Pennsylvania.

Game 1 - June 14, 2006 - Burlington 8  Lehigh Valley 2 - Opening Round
Down 2-1 in the seventh inning, Burlington rallied with three runs in the seventh and four runs in the eight to defeated Lehigh Valley 8-2 in the opening round of the 21st annual Carpenter Cup, sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies, played at Meiklejohn Stadium at the University of Pennsylvania Wednesday.

BURLCO Carpenter Cup Players Drafted in 2006

SEAN BLACK (2006 Burlco Carpenter Cup / Lenape HS)
Senior Sean Black, a Burlington County Carpenter Cup selection for 2006 and a Lenape High School senior was selected in the second round of the major league amateur draft by the Washington Nationals.  Black a 6'3", 185 pound, right handed pitcher was the 59th overall player selected.

SCOTT KNAZEK (Rider University / Pemberton HS / 2002 & 2003 Burlco Carpenter Cup)
Two-time Burlington County (Pemberton) Carpenter Cup catcher (2002 & 2003) Scott Knazek, a junior at Rider University was drafted in the 15th round of the major league amateur draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  Knazek was the 462nd overall player selected.  In 2006, Knazek (Browns Mills, NJ) batted .275 with 55 hits in 54 games. At 6’1”, 215 pounds, Knazek was third on the team in slugging percentage (.395) and led the team with 47 runs scored.  As a catcher Knazek threw out 17 runners attempting to steal this season. Last year as a sophomore Knazek earned second team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference honors, batting .316.  In his Rider career, Knazek has compiled 126 hits in 125 games, with 24 doubles, two triples and five home runs, while scoring 91 runs.  At Pemberton High School, Knazek was a second team All-State and first team All-South Jersey, All-Area and All-Conference selection.  Knazek signed with the Angels June 10th.

SHAWN SANFORD (2006 Burlco Carpenter Cup / Cinnaminson HS)
Senior Shawn Sanford, a Burlington County Carpenter Cup selection for 2006 and a Cinnaminson High School senior was selected in the 43rd round of the major league amateur draft by the Texas Rangers.  Sanford a 6'0", 195 pound, right handed pitcher was the 1287th overall player selected.
