Burlington County Announces 2010 Carpenter Cup
Roster
Defending Champs Open Play June 14
PEMBERTON—The general managers have announced the 2010 Burlington County Carpenter Cup roster that will look to defend its title as the team begins play in the 16-team single elimination tournament sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Named at pitchers to the squad are senior James Coughlin (Seneca), Tory Schroff (Lenape), Zak Pol (Delran), Tommy Potts (Bordentown) and juniors Kevin Comer (Seneca), Devon Hedgepeth (RVRHS), Dylan Johannink (Shawnee), Jeff McGarry (Lenape) and Taylor Steen (New Egypt).
Catchers named are seniors Jamie Kunz-Mulholland (Lenape), Matt Cann (Cinnaminson), Mike Fassl (New Egypt) and junior Mark Zagunis (Holy Cross).
In the outfield are seniors Tyler Powell (Cherokee), Ian Moyer (Northern Burlington), Mike DiBlasio (Moorestown) and Jesse Revenis (Delran) along with junior Ed Royds (Shawnee).
Rounding out the team in the infield are seniors Eric Sellitto (Shawnee), Dillon O’Neal (Riverside) and juniors Vince Corbi (Shawnee), Stefan Kancylarz (Lenape), Jake DeWitt (Florence), Josh Limon (RVRHS) and Ryan Williams (Seneca).
Cann, Comer, Coughlin, Johannink, Kunz-Mulholland, Powell, Sellitto and Zagunis are the eight returnees from the championship team.
In the 2009 tournament, Cann batted, .200, Comer was 1-0 with a 1.12 e.r.a., Kunz-Mulholland batted .800 with three doubles, Powell batted .400 with a double, home run and three RBI, Sellitto batted .375 and Zagunis had an RBI in four games. Johannink was a replacement for an injured player and did not appear in any games.
Cann will miss the 2010 tournament with a hand injury. The top alternate, pitcher Tyler Harris (Moorestown) was named to the team on Monday.
Shawnee and Lenape placed four players on the team, followed by three from Seneca and two each from Delran, Moorestown, New Egypt and Rancocas Valley. Bordentown, Cherokee, Cinnaminson, Florence, Holy Cross, Northern Burlington and Riverside are also represented.
Burlington County begins play on June 14 at Richie Ashburn Field (FDR Park) against Delaware South at 12:30pm. With a win, the team advances to June 18 against the winner of Olympic Colonial/Tri-Cape at 9:00am, also at Richie Ashburn Field (FDR Park).
The semifinals are scheduled for 9:30am on June 28 at Citizens Bank Park with the championship game set for June 29 at 10:00am, also at Citizens Bank Park.
Started by the Carpenter Family and the Phillies in 1986, the tournament is entering its 25th season and showcases 400 student-athletes from New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. Over 200 college coaches and many pro scouts are expected to be in attendance.
In addition to the 2009 championship, Burlington County also won the title in 2006.

The general managers are Tony Lotierzo (Rancocas Valley) and Jim Varsaci (Maple Shade) with special assistant John Killion.
The team practices at 3:30pm on June 8 at Burlington County College in Pemberton, courtesy of BCC Head Coach John Holt. Holt led the Barons to the 2009 XIX Region championship.
