Burlington County Announces Carpenter Cup Roster for
26th Annual Tournament Sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies
MARLTON—Looking for its third championship in the last six seasons, the Burlington County franchise of the Carpenter Cup has announced its 25 player roster for the 2011 tournament.
The 16-team single elimination tournament, sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies, begins on June 13 at FDR Park and runs through June 21.
In voting by the coaches from the Burlington County Scholastic League and those coaches from Lenape, Shawnee, Seneca and Cherokee (Olympic Conference), the following players were selected, representing 13 schools:

11 players including Comer, Corbi, DeWitt, Hedgepeth, Johannink, Kancylarz, McGarry, Royds, Steen, Williams and Zagunis all return from the 2010 Burlco squad which lost in the semifinals to Jersey Shore.
Comer and Zagunis are the only holdovers from the 2009 team that won the title with a 2-1 win over SOL National/Bicentennial .
The head coach of the team is Marc Petragnani from Cherokee. He is scheduled to be assisted by Steve Dolores (Cherokee), Bill Donahue (Moorestown), Joe Frappolli Jr. (Florence) and Brian Solomon (Riverside).
The general managers of the Burlco franchise are Tony Lotierzo (RVRHS) and Jim Varsaci (Maple Shade).
The first practice will be on June 7 at 3:30pm at Cherokee High School with a second practice scheduled for June 8 at 3:30pm.
Burlington County, which won the tournament in 2006 and 2009, takes the field against SOL American/Continental on June 14 at 4pm.
If BURLCO wins, its quarterfinal game will be on Saturday, June 18 at 10:30am at Coca-Cola Park, home of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
BURLCO’s semifinal game would be at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies on June 20 at 1pm with the championship game on June 21 at 10am, also at Citizens Bank Park.
