 Varsity Baseball 2006
 O'Hanlan, Tim Wasco, Miller Honored
Hendrick, Miller, O'Hanlan, Rodan, Wrice - Joe France Distinguished Athlete Award


EDGEWATER PARK--Seniors Dennis O'Hanlan, Tim Wasco and Todd Miller were honored at the Riverside High School athletics banquet on Wednesday night.

In team voting, O'Hanlan was awarded team MVP, Miller was awarded most-improved and Wasco received the coaches award.

O'Hanlan batted .400 (30/75) for the Rams in 2006 with 28 runs scored eight doubles and 11 RBI.

Miller, batted .312 (24/77) in 25 games with 13 runs scored and 18 RBI after hitting .163 as a junior.

Wasco who was named All-South Jersey Group I first team second base by the Courier Post earlier in the evening, started all 26 games for the Rams, batting .402 (33/82) with nine doubles, 32 RBI and 22 runs scored.

Wasco was awarded BCSL Freedom Division first team honors and O'Hanlan BCSL Freedom Division second team honors in late May.

Seniors Alan Hendrick, Miller, O'Hanlan, Peter Rodan and McNeil Wrice were honored with the Joe France Distinguished Athlete Award.  This award is presented to seniors who have earned two or more varsity sports awards and have continued to compete throughout their senior year in all sports in which they received a varsity letter.  This special recognition and award is a Distinguished Athlete plaque, named in honor of Joe France, a long time Riverside High School teacher, coach, and athletic director.

Hendrick was awarded a total of seven varsity letters, three in basketball (2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06) and four in baseball (2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006).

Miller was awarded a total of three varsity letters, one in football (2005) and two in baseball (2005 and 2006).

O'Hanlan was awarded a total of seven varsity letters, two in football (2004, 2005), two in basketball (2004-05, 2005-06) and three in baseball (2004, 2005, 2006).

Rodan was awarded a total of four varsity letters, two in football (2004, 2005) and two in baseball (2005, 2006).

Wrice was awarded a total of seven varsity letters, two in football (2004, 2005), three in basketball (2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06) and two in baseball (2005, 2006).

Wrice was also awarded football team MVP for 2005 and Griffin the wrestling team coaches award for 2005-06.

Other awards involving baseball varsity letterwinners included Griffin BCSL Freedom Division first team and South Jersey Group I second team for football in 2005, BCSL Freedom Division first team, District 26 champion, South Jersey All-County first team and South Jersey Group I first team for wrestling in 2005-06, Wrice BCSL Freedom Division first team for football in 2005 and BCSL Freedom Division first team for basketball in 2005-06.  Junior outfielder Ryan Grob was awarded BCSL Freedom Division second team honors for wrestling for the 2005-06 season.
