Riverside Rams Varsity Baseball
to play at Waterfront Park on Mother's Day - May 14
and raise money for breast cancer research
RIVERSIDE--For the fourth time, the Riverside Rams of the Burlington County Scholastic League will play at Waterfront Park, home of the Trenton Thunder, the New York Yankees double-A affiliate in Trenton, New Jersey. Riverside is scheduled to play after the Thunder host the Bowie BaySox on May 14th at 1:35pm. The mother's day game is also Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Waterfront Park. The Rams have announced that $1.00 from each $8.00 ticket sold by the team will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, South Jersey/Central Jersey affiliate.
The Rams and head coach Gary Herron will face Egg Harbor Township and Gary's brother Steve Herron on mother's day.
"We wanted to do something special since our game date is on Mother's Day this year," said volunteer assistant coach Brian Solomon who is spearheading the ticket sales. "The Thunder are promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Day and we felt that this would be an appropriate way for the team to give something back to the community while helping the Thunder raise awareness for this life-threatening disease."
In the past two seasons, Riverside has sold the most tickets of any high school team playing at Waterfront park and since the 2000 season, have sold over 1,000 tickets for Thunder~Riverside games.
"The parents and fans of the Riverside varsity baseball team are very supportive of our efforts and we anticipate that this will be a very successful event for the Susan G. Komen foundation as well as a character building event for the players," Solomon added.
Tickets may be obtained from any Riverside varsity player, or visit the team website at http://www.baseball-riversidenj.com for more information. To contact the team, send an e-mail to bsolomon@snip.net.
