NJSIAA South Jersey Group I Playoffs - Preliminary Round
#9 Riverside Rams 10, #8 New Egypt Warriors 5

PLUMSTEAD TWP.--Senior Zach Schultice threw four plus innings, scattering seven hits and junior Alex Chotalal had three hits to lead Riverside (10-9) to an upset win at New Egypt on Monday in an NJSIAA South Jersey Group I opening round game.

The Rams who entered the tournament as the number nine seed, advance to play top seeded Maple Shade on Friday.

Other South Jersey Group I games on Friday include #5 Gloucester at #4 Penns Grove, #7 Point Pleasant Beach at #2 Pitman and #6 Wildwood at #3 Pennsville.

Also for Riverside, senior Mike Wasco had two hits including a grand slam, his sixth home run of the season with freshman Tim Borek scoring three times.

Sophomore Dillon O'Neal went the final three innings to pick up his first save of the season.  O'Neal recorded four strikeouts.

Head Coach Gary Herron picked up the 249th win of his high school coaching career and in 15 seasons at Riverside, Herron is 245-118.

Riverside hosts Burlington Township on Wednesday in a BCSL intra-Division game.
