Riverside’s Wasco and Schultice
Courier Post All-Group I Honors
CHERRY HILL—Senior catcher Mike Wasco was awarded first team South Jersey All-Group I honors and senior pitcher Zach Schultice was awarded second team South Jersey All-Group I honors by the Courier Post it was announced Friday.
Wasco, the Rams' Most Valuable Player in 2008, batted .536 for the season with 37 hits and 25 runs scored, five doubles and six home runs. Wasco had a slugging percentage of .870 and an on-base average of .624. Wasco made only three errors in 121 chances and threw out nine base runners attempting to steal along with two pickoffs.
Wasco was a member of the Burlington County Carpenter Cup squad that advanced to the quarter-finals of the 23rd annual tournament sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies. Wasco had three hits and five RBI’s in the tournament while throwing out two would be base stealers.
Schultice went 3-3 for the 11-11 Rams with a 4.16 e.r.a. and batted .292. Schultice led the Rams with 32 innings pitched.
Riverside (11-11, 8-3 BCSL Freedom) advanced to the NJSIAA South Jersey Group I quarter-finals.
