EDGEWATER PARK--Over 300 varsity athletes were honored by Riverside High School at its annual awards banquet Wednesday night with several varsity baseball players receiving awards and Burlington County Scholastic League (BCSL) honors.

Senior Marc Mount was awarded the team Most Valuable Player award and it was also announced that Mount was named to the 24th Burlington County Carpenter Cup squad that opens play on June 16.  Mount was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player in football and was also named the Most Valuable Wrestler for the wrestling team.  Earning nine varsity letters overall in football (2007, 2008, 2009), wrestling (2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09) and baseball (2007, 2008 and 2009), Mount was one of three varsity baseball players honored as a Joe France Distinguished Athlete.

Mount was named an All-County All-Star in football, earning BCSL First Team Freedom Division honors, Second Team BCSL Freedom Division honors in wrestling and First Team BCSL Freedom Division honors in baseball.  In addition to the Carpenter Cup, Mount will participate in the Adam Taliaferro All-Star Football Classic on June 25 at Rowan University.

In 2009, Mount led the Rams in batting average (.425), doubles (7), triples (4), sacrifices (3), slugging percentage (.753), total bases (55) and RBI (39).

Senior Donnie Strain received the Coaches Award for baseball.  Strain led the Rams in runs scored (34), doubles (7), home runs (4) and total bases (55).

Strain was also named a Joe France Distinguished Athlete, earning seven varsity letters in football (2007, 2008, 2009), basketball (2009) and baseball (2007, 2008, 2009).  Strain earned BCSL First Team honors in football and was named the team's Most Outstanding Offensive Player.  Strain also earned First Team BCSL Freedom Division honors in baseball.

Senior Mike Grill was named the Most Improved Player for baseball.  After batting .167 as a junior, Grill appeared in 23 games this season, batting .265 with 18 hits, 13 runs scored and 11 RBI while walking 10 times.

Grill also earned a varsity letter in football and was named a BCSL Second Team Freedom Division honoree.

Senior Alex Chotalal was the third Joe France Distinguished Athlete honoree from the baseball team, earning seven varsity letters in football (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) and baseball (2007, 2008, 2009).  Chotalal received the Coaches Award for football and earned BCSL Freedom Division Second Team honors.

Also receiving baseball varsity letters were seniors Nick Cimorelli, Kevin Joo and Aaron Miller.  Joo, a BCSL Freedom Division Second Team honoree in baseball, also earned a varsity letter in basketball.

Juniors that earned varsity baseball letters were Matthew Leith, Cody Matthews, Dean McFadden, Dillon O'Neal, Dominic Perillo and Zach Wallace.  O'Neal earned BCSL Freedom Division Second Team honors in baseball and also lettered in wrestling with Leith earning BCSL Freedom Division Second Team baseball honors and also lettered in soccer.  McFadden earned a varsity letter in soccer and a junior-varsity letter in basketball with Perillo earning a varsity letter in football.

Sophomores varsity baseball letter winners were Tim Borek and Eric Nevadunsky.  Nevadunsky earned a varsity letter in wrestling and received the Coaches Award.  Nevadunsky also earned a junior-varsity letter in football.  Borek, a baseball BCSL First Team Freedom Division honoree, also earned a junior-varsity letter in basketball.
